The invention relates to the ferrous metallurgy, in particular to the composition of alloyed tool steel for cold working and a process for making piece or tool from it using the method of powder metallurgy. An alloyed tool steel for cold working, which is designed for making with use of the method of powder metallurgy of articles, in particular tools contains, % by weight: 2.05 - 2.65 of carbon, to 2.0 of silicon and manganese, 6.1 - 9.8 of chrome, 0.5 - 2.4 of tungsten, 2.15 -4.7 of molybdenum, 7.05 - 9.0 of vanadium, 0.25 - 2.45 of niobium, to 10.0 of cobalt, to 0.3 of sulfur, to 0.32 of nitrogen, to 1.5 of nickel, also concomitant elements and technologically predetermined admixtures to 2.6 % by weight, the rest is iron, at that mentioned articles have the content of oxygen less than 100 mln-1 and content and configuration of nonmetallic inclusions corresponding to the value of index K0, being equal not more than 3 in test according to DIN 50602. The invention provides increase of breaking strength at bending, hardness, impact strength and wear resistance of articles made of alloyed tool steel.
