PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting insert, which can perform a cutting process under a wide cutting condition from a small feed to a large feed in a finish work region of shallow depth of cut even in the case of work particularly for a viscous material, that is, excellent in general purpose usability. SOLUTION: This cutting insert 1 is characterized by comprising a polygonal plate-shaped unit having an upper surface as a rake face 2, a lower surface as a seating surface, and a side surface as a flank 3, to be formed with a cutting blade 4 in a ridge side between the rake face 2 and the flank 3, to be provided with a corner cutting blade 6 and a lateral cutting blade 7 continued to both end sides of this corner cutting blade 6 in a corner part 5 crossing the ridge side of the polygonal plate-shaped unit, to have a lowering inclined part 71 adjacent to the corner cutting blade 6 to lower down as separated from it in this lateral cutting blade 7, and have the breaker protrusion part 10 of height d2 of 0.25 to 0.35 mm relating to a tip end of this corner part 5 in a side of the rake face 2 of the corner part 5.
