The invention relates to a device for thermally compacting a nonwoven (1) made of natural fibers, especially hemp fibers, mixed with binding fibers. The inventive device comprises a sieve drum (5), operating under a suction pressure in the area in which the fibers are strewn onto the sieve, for aerodynamically forming the nonwoven, and a continuous furnace (8). A feeding conveyor (9) consisting of two superimposed, revolving conveyor belts (10, 11) is mounted upstream of the furnace. The sides (12, 13) of the conveyor belts disposed so as to face each other form a conveying channel (14) for the nonwoven (1), which tapers in the direction of movement. In order to create favorable constructional conditions, the two conveyor belts (10, 11) of the feeding conveyor (9) can be driven at different conveying speeds. |
