PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a primer composition used for ink-jet printing in which such printing properties as fastness to smear resistance, smudge resistance, fastness to water resistance and fastness to light are improved. SOLUTION: A polymer in the one-pack type primer of the present invention is selected from vinyl-based polymers and condensed polymers and has a transition temperature in a range of -50 deg.C to +100 deg.C and a melting temperature in a range of 30 deg.C to 150 deg.C and a (weight average) molecular weight in a range of 3,000 to 100,000. The two-pack type primer of the present invention comprises (1) a reactive monomer or an oligomer selected from a group consisting of isocyanate and epoxy group-terminated oligomers and (2) at least one second ingredient selected from a group consisting of polyols, polyvinyl alcohols and basic catalysts. The reactive monomer or the oligomer reacts with the at least one second ingredient (group) on the printing medium to form the polymer with the glass transition temperature and the melting temperature within the ranges and to obtain an excellent primer solution. |
