PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect atrial fibrillation. SOLUTION: An interval calculator 24, when receiving ECG (10 and 150) information, determines the intervals between consecutive R waves. A probability engine detects atrial fibrillation on the basis of beat classification and RR interval values and outputs a state variable which shows the probability of the presence of an irregular state. A context analysis module adapts a predetermined map to the running map of the current ECG information to determine the similarity between a plurality of consecutive RR intervals and check a series of adaptive classes. Information from a P-wave detection module 60 which detects the presence of a P-wave from a stochastic engine, the context analysis module and the ECG information is sent to a state evaluation module 50. |
