PURPOSE: To minimize the idle traveling for the shift of a steering wheel forwardly from a vehicle, without carrying out the energy absorption in the secondary collision, as for a lock structure type telescopic steering column using friction. CONSTITUTION: As for a steering column for vehicle which is constituted so that a nut fixed on an operating lever is screwed with a tightening bolt which penetrates through a slot hole for telescope action for an upper bracket 15 and a bracket 25 for fixing a jacket which is nipping-held on the upper bracket 1, and the telescope setting position is locked by tightening the upper bracket on a jacket holder 22 and a bracket 25 for fixing the jacket by turning the operating lever, a tooth part 32a is formed on the slot hole 31 for telescope action into which the tightening bolt 19 is freely fitted. A pin holder 54 having a lock pin 59 which is engaged and disengaged with the tooth part 32a and is projectingly installed is freely fitted with the tightening bolt 19, and an elastic machine 53 is interposed between a pin holder 54 and an operating lever 56. |
