PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedal effort detector of simple structure reduced in the number of part items, and of structure having reduced sliding portions and abutting portions. SOLUTION: This detector is provided with a torsion pipe 6 penetrated insertedly to an outer circumference of a crankshaft 1, connected with a pedal sprocket 4 in its one end side, and fixed to the crankshaft 1 in it's the other end, is constituted to generate a rotation-directional phase difference between the crankshaft 1 and the one end side of the torsion pipe in response to leg- power input to the crankshaft 1, and is provided with a pin-like member 5 erected radial-directionally from a side face of the crankshaft 1 in the vicinity of the one end side of torsion pipe 6, an engaging action part 6a for inclining the pin-like member 5 in response to the phase difference between the crankshaft 1 and the one end side of the torsion pipe, and a detection mechanism 7 for detecting an inclined amount of the pin-like member 5 on the radial-directional outer side of the engaging action part 6a.
