The device has a light source with which the observed object (5) can be illuminated using a region of the microscope objective off the optical axis and two reflection elements (9,10) movable perpendicularly to the optical axis, of which the first reflects a part of the light perpendicularly to the optical axis and the second deflects the light towards the object in an angular range close to the axis.
