PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope so formed that when an endoscopic image is displayed on the screen of a monitor with an optical adapter connected to the endoscope, the image is displayed on the screen in a predetermined position of the screen. SOLUTION: A tip forming member 26 and an adapter body 38 are provided respectively with a positioning groove 26b and a positioning pin 46 for connecting the endoscope 2 to a binocular optical adapter 30 in a predetermined positional relationship to each other. The utilized adapter-side observation optical unit 36 of the optical adapter 30 is rotatable relative to the positioning groove 26b and the positioning pin 46. That is, the unit 36 is positioned to be rotatable relative to the adapter body 38.
