PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that appropriate heat retention can not be performed and a rice cooker and warmer is automatically turned off in a short time when rice cooked in another rice cooker or a pot is heat-retained in the rice cooker and warmer controlling the heat retention corresponding to heat retention elapsed time and being automatically turned off at prescribed time. SOLUTION: The rice cooker and warmer is provided with a first input means starting rice cooking, a second input means starting the heat retention, a third input means forcibly ending the rice cooking and the heat retention and returning to a standby state, a first control means controlling rice cooking and heat retention operations and a first timing means timing elapsed time (heat retention elapsed time, hereafter) from the start of the heat retention. When the heat retention is started by the second input means (Y in step 1), in the case that the previous heat retention elapsed time is equal to or longer than first prescribed time (Y in step 2), the heat retention elapsed time is set to second prescribed time (step 4).
