PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous ink jet recording element, providing an excellent optical density as well as a good quality of image when printing is effected by a dye base ink while having a drying time superior to the other elements. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording element comprises a substrate, on which a porous image receiving layer consisting of (a) particles having the primary grain size of 7-40 nm whose diameter can be agglomerated to the maximum 300 nm and (b) cationic polymer grains, containing at least 20 mol% of cationic mordant portion insoluble to water, is provided. |
