PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems in a conventional separater for root crops such as potatoes; (a) difficulty of separating substances having almost the same specific gravity, (b) low probability in removal by catching stems and leaves with a rod having an uneven surface, (c) a large loss in separation by a knife utilizing the properties of products such as hardness and softness, (d) separation of substance other than targeted products by utilizing differences of light reflectivity, transmission of oscillatory wave or electric analysis and (e) fatigue of eyes in separation by visual observation. SOLUTION: The separater is constituted so that the separation is conducted utilizing the difference of coefficients of rebound of the root crops or cereals and the admixture.
