<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an initiator easily manufactured at a low cost and to provide a gas generator having the initiator. SOLUTION: A reactant 54 is stored in a casing 52 of the initiator 50. Tip sides of a pair of rod-shaped discharge electrodes 58 and 60 are projected into the casing 52 by penetrating through an insulating material 56. In an emergency such as a collision of vehicles, a switch circuit 70 is turned on, a power source voltage of a battery 72 is converted into pulsed states by a pulse generation circuit 68, and the voltage is raised to a prescribed voltage level or more by a boosting circuit 66 and impressed to the electrodes 58 and 60. This constitution causes discharge between the electrodes 58 and 60, the reactant is ignited by the discharge, and the reaction of the reactant 54 is started.</p> |
