<p>Sulphur dioxide is eliminated from a gas obtained by the combustion of a sulphur-contg. fossil fuel by (a) dispersing gaseous ammonia in the gas while the gas is at a temp. above the decompn. temp. of ammonium sulphite, (b) cooling the ammonia-contg. gas below this decompn. temp. to form a gas contg. entrained particles of ammonium salts contg ammonium sulphite, and (c) removing the particles from the gas. Specif. the gas is obtained by the combustion of coal. NO2 as well as SO2 is eliminated.</p> |
