摘要 PURPOSE: To lessen the connection loss of a juncture when different multiple optical fiber cables are fusion spliced to each other by forming the opening of a microtorch to a flat shape and providing its flat opening with constricted parts. CONSTITUTION: The microtorch 2 constituting the important part of this heater 1 has the flat opening 3 and is provided with the constricted part 4 at three points at equal intervals in the major axis direction of this flat opening. In such a case, the size of the flat opening 3 of the microtorch 2 is determined in compliance with the structural size of optical fiber ribbon cables 12, l3, but since there is a need for simultaneously heating the entire part of the juncture after fusing, the flat type opening 3 is formed to the same major axis and minor axis sizes as the major axis and minor axis sizes of the optical fiber ribbon cables 12, 13 or to the sizes slightly larger than these sizes. The constricted parts 4 of the flat type opening have purposes of uniformizing the temp. distribution gaseous flame tips 5 in the major axis direction of the flat type opening 3 and, therefore, the sizes, number of installation, installation points, etc., of the constricted parts 4 are determined from the flow rates of gases, the sectional sizes of the optical fiber ribbon cables 12, 13, etc.
