A selectively-operated hydraulically damped bearing (1) supports e.g. an automobile engine on the vehicle chassis or bodywork. The bearing has a valve-controlled air chamber (11). When the valve (12) is closed and the bearing is under negative pressure, the chamber enhances the bearing stiffness, with air entering the chamber via an opened back-flow prevention valve (13). |
