PURPOSE:To obtain an electroviscous fluid, composed of a liquid crystalline compound (or its dispersion) in which plural liquid crystalline groups are directly or through a spacer bonded to one molecular chain and suitable as actuators for vibration absorption, torque transmission, servo control, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective electroviscous fluid is composed of a liquid crystalline compound expressed by, e.g. the formula (a copolymer silicone of monomethylsiloxane and dimethylsiloxane at 1:1 molar ratio x:y having about 30 polymerization degree) in which plural liquid crystalline groups are bonded to a flexible molecular chain such as an (oxy)alkylene group or its dispersion. |
