PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube and its base as improvement of a conventional technique of such an arrangement that the base attached to the outer side face of the stem part of cathode-ray tube for protecting a chip covers the periphery of a stem pin to admit impression of a high voltage with a partition in order to preclude electric discharging, involving such a problem that a deflecting coil runs against the diagonal free end of the partition when the coil is to be mounted resulting in breakage or that the deflecting coil of a deflection yoke goes in breakage, wherein however the invention allows preventing such breakage effectively, preventing the partition part from breakage, and preventing the deflecting coil from severance. SOLUTION: A stem 24 is welded to the end of the neck 19 of cathode-ray tube, and a protective cylinder 28 to accommodate an exhaust pipe mounted on the stem 24 is installed on the outer side face of the stem 24 and is furnished at the periphery with a plurality of through holes 29 for insertion of the stem pin 25 in a ring-shaped arrangement, and the partition 30 encloses the stem pin 25 where a high voltage of the stem pin 25 is impressed, and a slope 31 is provided at the diagonal free end of the partition 30.
