PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical recording medium and its manufacturing method that can transfer a very small recording magnetic domain of a recording layer onto a reproduction layer to surely reproduce the magnetic domain. SOLUTION: The magneto-optical recording medium 10 includes the reproduction layer 3 and the recording layer 5 formed on a base 1. In the case of forming a film on the reproduction layer 3, a set of interruption and restart of film forming is performed at least once. Since minute magnetic particles with high uniformity are formed in the reproduction layer 3 according to it, the coercive force of the reproduction layer 3 is decreased. Even when the recording magnetic domain of the recording layer 5 is very small, it can surely be transferred to the reproduction layer 3. The transferred magnetic domain to the reproduction layer 3 can easily be extended by a small external magnetic field and the reproduction magnetic field sensitivity is very high.
