PANEL FOR CATHODE RAY TUBE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A panel for a CRT and method for manufacturing the same is provided to improve stress distribution by removing unnecessary permanent tensile stress, while reducing weight and size of a CRT. CONSTITUTION: A panel(20) for a CRT comprises a face portion(21) for displaying images, and a skirt portion(23) extended from an edge of the face portion. When the surface stress(σfc) of a face center area(27) and the surface stress(σfw) of face wedge areas(28a to 28d) satisfy the relationship (absolute value)σfw <=(absolute value)σfc <=3(absolute value)σfw. When the surface stress(σfw) of the face wedge area and the maximum tensile stress(σts) of the face wedge area satisfy the relationship 2σts>=(absolute value)σfw>=σts. The face wedge area is air-cooled reinforced by the air having a temperature of 20 Deg.C when the panel has a surface temperature of approximately 475 to 520 Deg.C.
