PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce current consumption of a battery in a state of preservation to a minimum, without mounting a fitment-detection exclusive terminal for detecting the fitment of the battery to an electric apparatus, and to enable a user to use the battery in a perfect condition when the battery is for use by the user. SOLUTION: The packed battery contains an operation mode changeover circuit 2 that switches a normal operation mode and a low power consumption mode, and also comprises a communication terminal 5 to be communicated with the electric apparatus 7 to be fitted. The operation mode changeover circuit 2 detects a low power consumption mode transition command inputted from the communication terminal 5, and switches the operation mode to the low power consumption mode when the potential of the communication terminal 5 is held at 'Low' for a time longer than a prescribed time.
