PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a winding method for a saddle type horizontal deflecting coil capable of generating excellent convergence characteristics over the whole screen area using a simple means and accomplishing a deflection yoke at a low cost excellent in the image quality. SOLUTION: The method applied to a winding method for a saddle type horizontal deflecting coil 1 installed in an in-line color cathode-ray tube comprising such procedures that an auxiliary coil winding part 6 having a specified length is formed previously on the wind start side S and deflection coil 1A is wound and molded, that the obtained deflection coil 1A is mounted on a coil separator 3 in which a plurality of coil winding pins 4 are moulded in a single piece structure in such a way as mating with a window 5 provided in the deflection coil 1A, and that the auxiliary coil winding part 6 is wound on the pins 4, and thus the intended saddle type horizontal deflecting coil 1 is completed which consists of a main coil 2A and auxiliary coil 2B.
