Wax-free mascara composition comprises solid particles of a film-forming acrylic polymer dispersed in an aqueous medium, where: (a) the polymer is capable of forming a film with a water uptake of less than 25 wt.% after immersion in water at 25 deg C for 10 minutes; and (b) the composition has a viscosity of 4-18 Pa.s at 25 deg C and a shear rate of 200 sec<-1>. An Independent claim is also included for a mascara product comprising the above composition in a container equipped with a removable closure and an applicator.
