Mechanical characterization of pills uses automatic micropress applying preloading cycles when carrying out three-point flexure and microindentation tests

Pharmaceutical solid (2) in a micropress (1) undergoes a three-point flexure test and a microindentation test. Prior loading and unloading cycles precede actual measurement in each test. An Independent claim is also included for the micropress (1) able to record functional parameters and to control loading piston (16) displacement toward the pharmaceutical solid (2) located below it. A sensor (18) measures the force exerted, through a head at the piston end. A displacement sensor (17) measures piston movement. Further equipment calculates properties of the solid from the measurements. Preferred features:
