PURPOSE: To uniformize the film thickness of an organic light-emitting layer, and to increase the effective light-emitting area in an organic EL display. CONSTITUTION: An anode 61 and a common cathode are formed with respective pixels of the organic EL display. An electric current is carried between the anode 61 and the cathode, by being switched by thin-film transistors 13 and 42 to make an organic EL element emit light. The organic EL element is composed of a hole transport layer, an organic light-emitting layer, and an electron transport layer. The organic light-emitting layer is used in common with adjacent identical color pixels among a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix shape (an obliquie line part). The organic light-emitting layer is used in common to prevent reduction in the film thickness of the organic light-emitting layer in the end part of a shadow mask at vapor deposition time, so that the film thickness of the organic light-emitting layer on the anode 61 can be uniformized.
