PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life ceramic heater, capable of effectively preventing or suppressing the generation of cracks in a metal lead wire. SOLUTION: The ceramic heater has a structure, in which a heating element consisting of a resistance heater 10 and metal lead wires 11 and 12 inserted/ engaged with the resistance heater is embedded in an insulating ceramic base 13. A diffusion layer, containing at least one element of Ni, Cr and Co, is formed on the surface of the metal lead wires 11 and 12.
