PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the compressibility by improving the procedure for encoding a predictive difference value. SOLUTION: Predictive difference values (A, B, C, etc.), for every sample included in a block of a prescribed length compressed by using an ADPCM method are divided into groups each consisting of a prescribed number of samples. A table(TB) wherein all combinations obtained by selecting arbitrary predictive difference values which are as many as the samples from all the predictive difference values included in the block of the prescribed length are made to correspond to mutually different representative values is generated and combinations of predictive difference values in the respective groups are represented by being replaced with the representative values made to correspond to the table. |
