PURPOSE: A device for driving a washing machine is provided to remove a gap between a motor rotator and a dehydration shaft for the precise and speedy braking of the dehydration shaft and remove the wear of a serration coupling portion of the dehydration shaft. CONSTITUTION: A device for driving a washing machine includes housings(30-32) mounted at a lower part of an outer casing, a hollow dehydration shaft(35) rotatably coupled in the housings and fixed with a washing tub, a washing shaft(37) rotatably coupled in the hollow dehydration shaft and fixed with a pulsator at an upper part, a motor stator(38) fixed in the housing, a motor rotator(40) rotatably coupled with the hollow dehydration shaft, a coupling element(42) coupled with the washing shaft for alternatively transmitting the rotation force of the motor rotator to the hollow dehydration shaft or the washing shaft, a solenoid(43) fixed on the bottom of the housings for operating the coupling element, and an elastic element(44) interposed between the coupling element and the solenoid for elastically supporting the coupling element. |
