PURPOSE: A backlight device of a liquid crystal display is provided to compensate brightness reduction of a light guide plate by using an auxiliary light guide plate, thereby obtaining uniform brightness over the whole liquid crystal panel. CONSTITUTION: A backlight device of a liquid crystal display including a light source(400), a lamp reflector(410) reflecting light emitted from the light source, a light guide plate(430) for regularly sending light received from the light source and the lamp reflector to a panel, an auxiliary light guide plate(431) placed at a lower surface of the light guide plate, a diffusing plate(440) placed at the upper part of the light guide plate to improve a view angle, and a condensing plate(450) converting the path of lights for projecting lights vertically to the panel, wherein the auxiliary light guide plate is shorter than the light guide plate and is placed within the range not exceeding the length of the lower surface of the light guide plate. |
