PURPOSE: Provided is a proton exchange membrane fuel cell capable of effective water balance, which makes a polymer electrolyte membrane keep the fixed water by using a capillary phenomenon, therefore maximizes ionic conductivity and catalyst efficiency. CONSTITUTION: The proton exchange membrane fuel cell is produced by a process comprising the steps of: preparing multilayer anode(200) and cathode(210) to transfer the water easily by controlling the porosity by making the particle size of carbon powder different in a porous carbon paper, wherein the anode(200) and the cathode(210) have a hydrophobic concentration gradient effect by changing the amount of a Teflon-based solution(Teflon-30); forming a membrane and electrode assembly(MEA) comprising the polymer electrolyte membrane(220) placed between the anode(200) and the cathode(210) by hot pressing; forming a unit cell by fixing the MEA, supports(240,245), and gaskets(250,255) with boards(270,280) having channels(260) capable of supplying and discharging a coolant; and laminating the unit cells to produce a fuel cell stack. |
