PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader and image forming device where even an unskilled user can easily replace an original guide member without the need for skill so as to eliminate temporal waste. SOLUTION: The original guide member 42 is fitted to an ADF(automatic document feeder) 40 in a way of being freely attached/detached from the outside. A shaft 77 with a torus groove 7a is caulked to a lower flange 100b exposed to the outside of a front side plate 100 of the ADF 40. A hole 42c is prepared to mount piece 42b of the original guide member 42. After shaft 77 engages with the hole 42c, a snap pin 78 made of a synthetic resin is pushed into the torus groove 77a. Then the snap pin 78 engages with the torus groove 77a to fix and prevent the original guide member 42 from coming off.
