<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reconcile automatic lighting and extinguishing control or dimming control, upon the detection of a human body and automatic control on illuminance, according to an installation height of a luminaire only by means of a distance sensor. SOLUTION: A lighting system 1 installed above a lighting space, to provide downward lighting comprises the distance sensor 111 for measuring a distance to an object in a direction which is inclined with respect to the vertical direction, and a control part for controlling the lighting output of a light source. The control part stores a maximum value of distances measured by the distance sensor 111 for a given time, after power input to the lighting system 1 as an initial distance d0, and then controls or switches the lighting output from a low output to a high output, if the distance measured by the distance sensor 111 varies or shortens from the initial distance d0 by a given distance (d0-d1) and if the rate of variation in distance to time satisfies a present condition. The output level of the lighting output is computed, according to an installation height h0 of the lighting system computed from the initial distance d0.</p> |
