PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retrieve an article with high efficiency by using a network and to enable a product maker and a retailer to efficiently provide article information and sales information for a retriever. SOLUTION: In this article information retrieval system, an article information providing side terminal 1 and an article information request side terminal 13 are connected through the network 100 and the article information providing side terminal 1 has an article information database generating means 40 which generates an article information database 2 according to article information 6 received from product makers 5, an article information extracting means 46 which extracts information on a corresponding article from the article information database 2 according to a retrieval condition 12 received from the article information request side terminal 13, and an article information transmitting means 45 which sends the extracted information on the article to the article information request side terminal 13.
