PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk unit using a CSS system head support mechanism which is thin with a simple structure and has high impact resistance and can perform high speed access while reducing a load applied to a spindle motor at starting as much as possible. SOLUTION: In the disk unit, a head support device is provided with a support arm 2 provided to be respectively turnable in a direction along the recording surface of a recording medium and in a direction perpendicularly to the recording surface with a shaft bush part 10 and a pivot shaft bush 11 as a turning center, a plate spring part 4 for applying urging force in the direction approaching the recording medium to the support arm 2, a coil 3 for turning the support arm 2 in the radial direction of the recording medium, and a plate spring member 6 formed on an upper yoke 19 that reduces the urging force given to the support arm 2 at the time of saving a head to a CSS area, maintaining a contact state by turning the support arm 2 in the redial direction of the recording medium.
