PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform remote monitoring of equipment on a network by a single system without adding any resource in spite of increasing of the equipment in number and in spite of variety of manufacturers of the equipment. SOLUTION: In a system for remote monitoring, a network monitoring workstation 100 collects status information and constitution information of the equipment on a network 101 by a SNMP(simple network management protocol) and transmits e-mails bearing the information to a mail server 115 by a SMTP(simple mail transfer protocol). A remote monitoring workstation 111 imports the e-mails by the SMTP to store the information into a database 112.
