PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for call waiting with a melody notice function, with which sending of call waiting incoming tone or ring back tone of a desired melody pattern can be set for each of call waiting callers or callees and a person, from whom call waiting incoming is originated or to whom call is terminated can be easily identified. SOLUTION: A third subscriber C to terminate a call to a subscriber B under communication sends the desired melody pattern for call waiting incoming tone from a telephone terminal 15 through an exchange (C) 5 to a control station 21 and the control station 21 receives and stores the melody pattern. When terminating a call waiting call, the melody pattern is read out, the call waiting incoming tone of this melody pattern is sent to the subscriber B and incoming of call waiting is reported to the subscriber B under communication.
