PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform color interpolation, without causing a color having DC components to be omitted, and without generating new pseudo chromaticity, even in the subject image having a high frequency and a high chroma. SOLUTION: The signal-processing apparatus comprises an imaging element (501) for outputting color image data; color interpolation circuits (551-554) for interpolating the color of the color image data, a degree-of-correlation detector (601) for determining the degree of correlation in the horizontal and the vertical directions; first color difference signal calculation means (556, 558, and 559) that perform color separation, in a direction having higher degree of correlation and calculate a first color difference signal; second color difference signal calculation means (557, 560, and 561) for calculating the second color difference signal by a specific operation that differs from the first color difference signal calculation means; chroma detection circuits (562 and 563) for calculating first and second chroma values from the first and second color difference signals; and selector (565 and 566) for selecting either the first or the second color difference signal for outputting, based on the first and second chroma values. |
