PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reset method for remote side exchange and an exchange system, with which a plurality of remote side exchanges can be simultaneously reset. SOLUTION: A host side exchange (LE) 1 determines a specific message on the protocol of LAPV5 as reset request data and transmits it to a remote side exchange (AN) 51. The AN 51 has a function for performing autonomous resetting when this specific message is received (it is similar for the other AN such as 5m). Since a system manager 3 on the side of the LE 1 performs control related to the transmission of the reset request data, resetting can be instructed to all the remote side exchanges connected to the LE 1 and further, centralized management is enabled in such control. When it is desired to reset a certain specific AN 51, by transmitting the reset request data from the system manager 3 in the LE 1 to the relevant AN 51, resetting can be performed.
