PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication unit that can accurately determine whether or not a signal on a transmission line is transmitted to a present unit with a short symbol length. SOLUTION: The communication unit comprises a transmission means that modulates a particular code assigned to a communication opposite party and transmits a signal resulting from applying prescribed conversion processing to the modulation data and a reception means that demodulates the modulation data, correlates the demodulated data with a particular code assigned in advance to itself and determines that 'the signal on the transmission line is the signal addressed to itself' when the correlation value indicates a prescribed threshold or over.
