PURPOSE: To provide a low pressure discharge lamp to possibly reduce mercury consumption by controlling sputtering of a lead wire and to possibly realize long operation life without increasing an amount of filled mercury. CONSTITUTION: The lead wire 4a, connected with a cylindrical electrode 5 in an arc tube 1, is formed by same materials with ones to form the cylindrical electrode 5.
