PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for storing digital contents of a digital broadcasting receiver are provided to move digital contents stored in the first storage medium to the second storage medium to store the contents in the second medium. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for storing digital contents of a digital broadcasting receiver includes a broadcasting receiving unit(100) for receiving digital broadcasting contents, a storage medium(200) for temporarily storing the received digital contents, and a replication control code analyzing unit(300) for analyzing a replication control code of the digital contents stored in the storage medium. The apparatus further includes a controller(400) for controlling the operation of each of components of the system, required for movement of the contents, a replication control code converter(500) for converting the replication control code contained in the contents according to the controller, and a data output unit(600) for transmitting the contents that were extracted from the storage medium and whose replication control code was converted to the second storage medium.
