PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the defect in conventional permanent magnet motors that reduction of the cogging torque is not sufficient. SOLUTION: In the permanent magnet motor comprising permanent magnets and armatures having a plurality of winding slots disposed facing the permanent magnets interposing an air gap, a plurality of auxiliary slots are disposed on the magnet pole surface of the armature, so that compound vectors of the auxiliary slots are disposed in the 180-degree facing position with the vectors of the winding slots in the sixth harmonic wave plane and 80% or less of the whole width is constituted of the width of the waveform whose amplitude is 90% or more of the peak value of the magnetomotive force waveform of the permanent magnet.
