PURPOSE: A stabilized spandex fiber obtained by adding polyurethane and zinc oxide to a spandex fiber is provided which is prevented against discoloration and strength degradation due to ultraviolet light, smog and chlorine water and low in generation of scum. CONSTITUTION: This spandex fiber contains (A) 0.5 to 3% by weight of a hindered phenol-based compound, (B) 0.2 to 2% by weight of a semicarbazide based compound, (C) 0.2 to 5% by weight of polyurethane containing a tertiary nitrogen atom, and (D) 1 to 5% by weight of zinc oxide, based on the total weight of the spandex fiber. The hindered phenol-based compound is ethylenebis(oxyethylene)bis-(3-(5-t-butyl-4-hydroxy-m-toyl)-propionate) or 3,9-bis(2-(3-(3-t-butyl-4-hydroxy-5-methylphenyl)propionyloxy)-1,1-dimethylethyl)2,4,8,1 0-tetraoxaspiro£5,5|undecane.
