PURPOSE: An electron gun for color CRT is provided to obtain uniform width of horizontal line around the screen by allowing the electron beam formed at the electrode member forming a first quadrupole lens to have a vertical length and a horizontal length smaller than the diameter of the adjacent electron beam passing hole. CONSTITUTION: An electron gun comprises a cathode, a control electrode, a screen electrode, first to third focus electrodes for forming first and second quadrupole lenses, and a final accelerating electrode arranged in the vicinity of the third focus electrode and which cooperates with the third focus electrode so as to form a main lens. The third focus electrode forming the first quadrupole lens has a plate type electrode member(26b) where each of electron beam passing holes(72) has a horizontal length(H1) and a vertical length(V1) smaller than a diameter(P1) of a circular electron beam passing hole(71) formed at a cup type electrode member(26a) of the third focus electrode.
