PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for informing a user by voice that what kind of a mail arrives when the mail is received. SOLUTION: A mail arrival informing system 14 displays an icon to show a mail arrival on a status display device 17 when a mail system 13 receives an electronic mail, concurrently converts a message to indicate the mail arrival into voice signals using a voice synthesizing engine 15, and regenerates the message through a speaker 18. The mail arrival informing system 14, then, decides characteristics (senders, the importance, a response or no response is required, the confirmation for opening letter, etc.), of the received mail, changes voice signal types (the tone quality, the sound volume, a speed) according to results of the decision, and outputs the received mail in a voice. |
