PURPOSE: A cosmetic containing Galβ 1,4Glcβ as an effective ingredient to absorb and remove Propionibacterium acnes is provided which is highly effective on Propionibacterium acnes and of high safety without exhibiting side effects and generating resistance to an acne strain. CONSTITUTION: This cosmetic contains lactic acid bacteria to open clogged hair follicle ducts and to smooth serum secretion and 0.1 to 10%(W/W) of Galβ 1,4Glcβ (disaccharide by β1,4 linkage of galactose and βglucose) to specifically attach to Propionibacterium acnes. In a Propionibacterium acnes adhesion inhibition test, Galβ 1,4Glcβ exhibits an inhibition rate of 72%.
