PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system that optimizes a position of a remote stimulation preamplifier and the length of a rare-earth element added optical fiber so as to bring the worst value of an optical SNR at a receiving end to the best in the case of assuming every optical cable patching position. SOLUTION: In the optical transmission system employing a remote stimulation preamplifier (RPRA) having a stimulation light source for a receiving end terminal, the RPRA position is set to a value γso that optical SNR (B) at a receiving end obtained when a patching loss is inserted entirely to an optional position from a transmission end to an input terminal of the RPRA is equal to an optical SNR (C) at the receiving end obtained by inserting it entirely to the receiving end. Furthermore, the length of the rare-earth element added optical fiber is set so as to maximize the optical SNR (γSNR) when the rare-earth element added optical fiber is placed to obtain the equal optical SNR. |
