The hands free door lock for a motor vehicle has an actuator (25) to allow or prevent opening action of the door lock. The actuator is connected to the lock by a blocking lever (26) movable between two positions corresponding to the retaining and release positions. The lock has a spring actuated cam (37) which is held in position by a stop (38) connected to the lock, in the locking position.
