PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color purity correcting method which can reduce the difference in image quality between a file image and a video signal to reproduce an image quality close to a screen image in a movie theater. SOLUTION: At outputting a signal level of each of color components of a video signal, the sum of multiplications of al the input color component levels by respective coefficients is used as an output signal level to color mixing. At this time, the coefficients are set to fall within a range of -0.3 to 0.3. As a result, influences from other colors can be restricted, and changes from the colors of an original image can be prevented from becoming excessive.
