PURPOSE: Provided is a block typed retaining wall for greening works, thereby increasing a natural vegetation induction rate as well as a structural stability, and reducing a construction cost. CONSTITUTION: The block type retaining wall is constructed by: excavating a pit at the bottom of a slope; forming a base concrete part(10) in the pit; and laminating concrete blocks on the base concrete part while back filling the rear side of the laminated concrete blocks, wherein a front wall of the retaining wall is constructed by assembling horizontal shelf blocks(20) and anchor blocks(30) to define a vegetation space(40) of back filling soil behind them. An H-shaped steel beam(50), which extends upward along an inclination of the front wall with being mounted in the base concrete part, is installed behind the anchor blocks to support the rear surfaces of the anchor blocks.
